Time To Start The Destressing

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 1, 2009, 1:06 AM

Yay!

David has passed his Airmen Leadership Schools exams and he's graduating tomorrow. *yay* He's giving the speech for his class tomorrow at the graduation party.

Course it's a formal dinner party...and he decided to tell me last minute that I need to be wearing a dress. The only dress I own is my wedding dress, which isn't appropriate, so I had to make a last minute run to the base exchange to find a dress...They really didn't have anything formal, so I ended up picking up this $10 black thing that's made out of some kind of tee-shirt material. I'm definitely going to be under dressed (again), but I think being a bit under dressed will be better than standing out in sparkely whiteness. I hate social parties...I really do. But it's important to David so... Regardless, I think it's time I invest in an appropriate formal dress...

I've pretty much been anxiety free for the past few days. Which I'm hoping will be a continuing trend...at least until it comes time to send him off to Iraq.

I finally found the concentration to sit down and play Sims3. That game is addictive. D: I sit down and start to play and there's no real time clock on my screen, so I just get sucked in and I play for hours. I'd never really been interested in the Sims before, but there's just something about playing god with a bunch of little game people that makes it a great stress reliever.

Plus my David sim not only looks like my husband, but it also acts too much like my husband. Unlike the real David though, I can force him to clean up after himself. lol

I've removed my front page forum, because no one has used it in forever. However I did put my Twitter box back up there, so you can interact with me though there if you like. I dunno.

Hmmm... the only two formal dresses I have are:
1. my wedding dress (not so bad actually, it is white, but it is not a typical wedding dress, so in the state of emergency it could be turned into a formal, evening dress with the help of some different-colored shawl, lol)
2. my prom dress with upper part in colors and textures of a tiger (don't ask)

Thank god, both me and my hubby hate such occasions, so I am pretty safe. XD

Congrats to your hubby on successfully passing the exams! ^^

Yeah my wedding dress is actually a prom dress, strapless, white with this sheer netting overlayer that has silver glitter sakura stems all on it...but it's still got kind of a fullness to it, so I don't think it would fall into the aiforcce's "formal" attire. They say cocktail dress.
I do have the blue bride's maid's dress from my sister-in-law's wedding, but I've lost so much weight since than that even though it has sleeves, the neckline is too wide and the sleeves won't stay up ^^;.
The last "formal" dinner we had to go to was last years Christmas party, which we both showed up way way under dressed for because we didn't really know what they meant by formal. Everyone was in evening gowns and me and my husband were wearing nice pants and fancy shirts.

I think as long as it's dark, no one shall notice that my $10 black thing is made out of cotton. I always wish that I could just hide in the corner and be left alone for these things. Or duck out just as soon as I come in. Always with the awkward conversations with people who really don't want to talk to you but feel like it's required of them. Unfortunately, since my husband has volunteered to be the spokesperson for the entire graduating class, we'll be there for at least two hours. D:

Well, you could always wear some nice jewelry to distract from the dress fabric. ;)

Congrats about David passing and will be graduating ^^.

I know what you mean. The Sims are definitely an addicting game series! I use it often as stress relief. I mean, you can do anything! :giggle:

I hope things will keep on going and is a trend. Having anxiety is not an enjoyable thing to experience :(. I can only imagine it feels good when you don't have it ^_^.

I only wear dresses/skirts for church if I can help it. I avoid formal parties, they just aren't my thing.

as for games... I need to get back on the bandwagon with FFXII. :faint: I never did finish it.

They gave him half the day off to prep for the ceremony, so he took me out to get a real dress. And evil pointy heeled shoes...though my walking ability improved over the course of the evening.
Dave was "Master of Ceremonies" and they even awarded him the Academic achievement award for his class. A couple of higher ups were so impressed that they gave him their coins. So it's been a big night for him.

Formal anything makes me cringe...but I survived. *hurra*

I love FFDXII. I liked how they made the game play engine have more of an MMO feel. I spent so many hours playing just so I could fill up every character's ability board thing.
